I have personally had the pleasure of sailing on her with the current owner. Her sails and rigging are all immaculately cared for and her engines run smoothly and quietly. She glides across the water and is an absolute dream to sail on. It's rare to find a Herreshoff of this size on the market, as so few were built. This is the perfect combination of spacious living spaces below deck and speed when the sails are hoisted. She exemplifies L. Francis Herreshoff's clever designs with clean, sweeping lines and a simplicity of hull and rig that show that they have been drawn by a true artist with an emphasis on engineering perfection. Like all his designs, this beautiful vessel has been striped away of every non-essential and left with the true elements of a masterpiece. She has proven herself a very comfortable seaworthy vessel. Her first owner, a WWII Naval Aviator and recipient of the Distinguished Navy Cross sailed her from Florida to California then up to Vancouver before bringing her to Hawaii. Current owner has sailed her extensively in the Hawaiian isalnds and to the Palmyra Atoll and back.She has been lovingly cared for by her current owner who has ensured monthly service checks as well as haul outs and full services every other year. In March 2015 she spent a week in dry dock having a full bottom re-paint and new zincs. Her spacious interior includes three double cabins along with two heads/shower rooms - en suite in the master - along with crew quarters for two. Apart from some minor upgrades (stove, etc.) her original interior is intact. The walk-through galley separates the master cabin from the spacious dinette, which seats 6, and the bonus salon area, which could easily accommodate a settee in front of the flat screen TV. All interior woodwork is in beautiful condition. New rigging was installed in 2004 which included a Harkin rolling furler and new sails. There are currently numerous new parts, including a new windlass and new jib sail. The fuel system was also redone at this time with new injector pump. Electronics are all in good working condition. There is also an Outback photovoltaic system aboard which is perfect for long-distance excursions. This is a wonderful opportunity to own a truly fabulous boat.
