This classic Cheoy Lee is moored in Waikiki, where it is summer year-round and most days are idyllic for sailing the tropical Polynesian waters. She has been sailed to Tahiti. the Society, Astraul, Marquesas and other Islands of the South Pacific.Built in 1974 by Cheoy Lee Shipyards Ltd. of Kowloon, Hong Kong, the Cheoy Lee Offshore 47 is a modern traditional designed and constructed blue-water sailing Yawl. The Cheoy Lee Offshore 47 is provided a full-finned keel with a cut-a-way forefoot sweeping aft then giving way to the moderate deadrise after section, picking up again with a full skeg and a skeg hung rudder.She boasts long overhangs with an elegant raked wine glass transom.The vessel has a contemporary spooned bow with anchor roller provisions, an open foredeck, traditional trunk cabin with midships scuttle hatch and after main companionway hatch. Her cockpit is aft near the stem. The stem is countered with an after lazarette. The cockpit is large with ample seating. It houses lockers and pedestal/binnacle steering. The full yawl rigged sailing vessel has well stayed main and mizzen masts. The main mast is deck stepped as is the mizzen. Each is heavily rigged and constructed of Sitka Spruce in an traditional elliptical fashion. Rigging includes all stainless steel 1 x 19 rigging wire with roller swagged terminal end fittings. Heavy duty bronze, closed barrel and toggled rigging screws are provided. On deck the vessel is equipped with two two-speed Barlow 32 Genoa winches as primaries and two two-speed Barlow 28 deck winches as secondaries. Barient halyard wire winches are provided as is a Barlow 21 and 16 for mast halyard operations. On deck safety equipment includes double score lifelines along with adequately spaced and secured stanchions. There is a stainless steel bow rail and a stem rail. An all around 4 inch bulwark/toerail provides safety around the deck. Auxiliary power is provided by a fresh water cooled 75hp Chrysler Nissan diesel inboard engine.Below deck there are three cabins. Well forward is a chain locker followed by a stateroom with V-berth (double or port and starboard berthing). The stateroom also provides adequate storage and locker access. The first head follows; with a marine toilet to port and a lavatory to starboard. Aft again is the main cabin with a port side settee and starboard located bench berth. There is ample storage beneath and behind berthing. The galley is located to port and a combination ice box-refrigeration / navigation table is to port. Access to the main deck is from here by way of a ladder through an overhead scuttle hatch.Up a short step is access into a foyer area 'wet room' which provides a separation between the vessel's accommodations and the cockpit area. Here there is access to the second head to port, a port side quarter berth and a starboard side quarter berth. An amidships companionway leads to cockpit.The electrical panel, circuitry and safety main switches are beneath the companionway. The engine is located beneath the main cabin sole deck adjacent to the companionway.The beads include pressure hot and cold water, a lavatories, showers and marine toilets. CorreWy the forward head is used for storage.The galley includes a four-burner Hiller stove/oven operated by LPG (propane gas), ice box *refrigeration', a double basin sink with hot and cold pressure water, pantry and counter tops.The interior hull and furnishings of the vessel are nicely attended with teak furnishings and professionally finished, built-in furnishings typical of far east interior designs. A teak and holly cabin sole, trim and joiner work are additionally provided. The vessel is finely accented with quality upholstered cushions.CONSTRUCTION:The Cheoy Lee Offshore 47ft. is constructed of hand laid molded fiberglass reinforced plastic of variable thickness. The decks, cabin and cockpit are of molded fiberglass reinforced plastic sandwiching an inner core of marine grade plywood for support and stiffening. The decks are over-planked in teak. Interior bulkheads, longitudinal and flooring supports are of well laminated marine plywood. Interior trim and floor overlay is of teak. The hull to deck joint is formed by overlapping, joining, bonding, bedding and the mechanical fastening of the hull to deck seam.The vessel is well constructed and heavily ballasted internally with lead Throughhulls, the strut and propeller are of bronze, excepting the knotmeter transducer which is of plastic type. The propeller shaft is stainless steel and of 1 1/4 inches. Through-hull valves are of the barrel type and of bronze.MECHANICAL:Auxiliary power is provided by a Chrysler, Nissan , four cylinder, diesel engine. The engine is fresh water cooled through a heat exchanger unit. The engine is in good order requiring only normal maintenance. The exhaust is a typical wet riser system.Wheel steering is provided with a binnacle and controlled through a worm gear to quadrant system. All engine controls are operational.ELECTRICAL:The vessel's electrical system includes four heavy duty batteries (four 6 volt batteries wired in series to create two 12 volt battery banks. DC over current protection is accomplished through a twelve gang breaker panel. A 110 AC shore power system is additionally provided. Over current protection for the 110 volt AC system is provided through a master circuit breaker and a five ganged subsidiary breaker panel. A 12 volt DC master switch isolates the two battery systems. The main switch is located at the companionway adjacent the galley. Battery replenishment is provided by an engine alternator and a Duramatic marine charger.Electrical wiring is insulated and of the stranded approved type.GALLEY:A LPG propane combination stove/oven is provided. Burner valves are of the captive type. The LPG storage cylinder is located in a deck accessed storage locker. An overflow pressure regulator is provided and located at the tank as is a valve. The storage box is equipped with a vent line. The storage cylinder is maintained secure from movement and the storage box , lines and line portals vapor tight to the interior of the vessel - Excessive LPG gas vents to the open atmosphere at least 24 inches away from any hull interior openings.
